Leeds based Pland Stainless have announced Lauren Dean as their newest apprentice TIG welder.

21 year old Lauren transitioned to this role as part of an Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship after initially pursuing a career in hair and beauty.

Commenting on her move to progress a career in Welding, Lauren said: “I’ve always been creative and hands-on and really enjoyed design and tech in school but wasn’t sure what career path to follow.

“It was an easy option for me to do hairdressing from school and whilst I did enjoy it, this opportunity at Pland means I am still working with my hands in a completely different way. I am now pursuing a trade that offers progression and gives me a skill that certainly appears in demand.”

Dean Johnson, Operations Director at Pland Stainless adds: “We are thrilled that Lauren has chosen to join our team to pursue a career in production. She is joining an experienced group of TIG welders on site.

“This welding process is the most commonly used for stainless steel, as it creates a low heat input that is ideal for working with thin materials. However, it requires a high level of skill, and Lauren is making excellent progress in her training.”

Founded in 1919, Pland specialises in designing and manufacturing commercial stainless steel products for various sectors, including healthcare, sanitaryware, washrooms, laboratories, education, catering, janitorial services, and secure accommodations.

The company is always on the lookout for like-minded individuals to join their team, offering a comprehensive training package.
