On the 28th April, Next Gen Makers hosted an Engineering Careers Webinar attended by over 60 Careers leaders from across the Black Country.
The webinar discussed ‘what is engineering’, advanced manufacturing careers, local labour market information and opportunities for further study or apprenticeships in the sector post year 11, drawing upon information from the Next Gen Makers Engineering Careers Prospectus 2020.
A panel discussion featured Georgina Barnard Executive Director of of Dudley College, Stuart Parker Client Manager at In-Comm Training and Chloe Sales, Apprentice Welder. This covered: how we remove the stigma around Engineering and Apprenticeships, what is the value to the individual of an Apprenticeship, what value do Engineering Apprentices bring to an employer and progression opportunities post Apprenticeship – what should young people expect?
Since the webinar, Next Gen Makers has received a wealth of positive feedback from Careers Leaders, students and via social media.
