The first Engineering Careers Workshop to promote the newly launched Next Gen Makers Engineering Careers Prospectus 2020 took place at Shireland Collegiate Academy on 10/03/2020, to a group of 85 year 12 students.
Focusing on careers after Sixth Form within the Engineering sector, the session was aimed at demystifying Engineering for those that had never considered it as a career option and highlight potential ‘next steps’ for those students that had.
This included the value of Apprenticeships, examples of success stories of existing Engineering Apprentices and the benefits of following this route into the sector as opposed to a University route, with a focus on region sponsors Sandwell College and Halesowen College.
The Workshop is the first of over 20 already confirmed to be delivered at High Schools across the 6 regions of the Prospectus before the end of the current academic year.
Many more high schools across the region are also set to receive printed versions of the Engineering Careers Prospectus 2020, as well as the ability to distribute the online version to students, as the roll out continues to provide a comprehensive single source of Engineering specific careers information.
