Apprenticeship Scheme expansion for EGGER UK

Egger UK, the Northumberland-headquartered wood-based material manufacturer, has expanded its Apprenticeship Scheme with more than 20 apprentices.

With its two chipboard manufacturing sites located at Hexham and Auchinleck, EGGER in the UK annual produces enough wood-based products to fill 27,500 lorry trailers. These products are supplied to businesses across the UK, who operate in the furniture, interior design and building markets.

29 people have joined its Apprenticeship Scheme in 2023, with recruits working across mechanical, electrical, production, health and safety and sales at its Hexham, Barony and Timberpak sites.

The company has an 800 strong team with EGGER Hexham being the largest manufacturing employer in Northumberland and EGGER Barony is one of East Ayrshire’s largest manufacturing employers.

Keith Robson, apprentice training manager, EGGER UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome our new apprentices to the team. The induction week provides an exceptional opportunity for our apprentices to build connections with one another and develop a support network, as they embark on their professional journey with us.”
