Learn more about how you can start your company’s journey to Accreditation.

Through our rolling 12 month Accreditation process, the Make UK Engineering Apprenticeships: Employer Kitemark Accreditation will help you to:

  • Run a high performing Apprenticeship scheme
  • Get recognised and stand out to attract the best young talent
  • Make sure you are delivering the best possible Apprentice experience

How it works:

The feedback of current Apprentices and Training Providers is a key part of the criteria in awarding the Kitemark to employers, in addition to the company being benchmarked against industry best practice on an annual basis during your journey within the Engineering Apprenticeships: Best Practice Programme.

1. Take the Benchmarking Questionnaire

Benchmark your existing approach to running your Apprenticeship scheme against industry best practice and identify where you can improve

2. Engineering Apprentice Survey

We administer a satisfaction survey to all of your Engineering & Manufacturing Apprentices, which at least 75% must complete

3. Training Provider Survey

We administer a survey to your Engineering Apprenticeship Training Provider(s), to get their perspective on you as an employer of Engineering Apprentices

4. Receive Accreditation

Your total scores from this process determine whether you receive Accreditation. If you do, this will be to either the Gold standard ‘Excellent Employer’ status or Silver standard ‘Aspiring for Excellence’ status

“It’s vital that would-be apprentices feel comfortable and confident when selecting an engineering employer, who will give them the right support and training throughout their apprenticeship and beyond.”

“This kitemark complements and builds on the programmes that Make UK and Next Gen Makers have already developed which are key to helping place apprentices and enable employers to bridge the skills gap which is currently affecting the sector.”
