Gateway 2 Employment provides a wide-ranging portfolio of Apprenticeships in Engineering Maintenance, Technical Support, Toolmaking, Performing Engineering Operations and Manufacturing Operations, plus the Operative Standard in Engineering Operations – Electrical or Mechanical Route. These programmes ensure our apprentices are fully equipped with the skills and knowledge essential to be really successful in their chosen industry and get high ranking results in their qualifications. On-the-job training is further developed in our state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories with the support of our highly qualified lecturers, assessors and master technicians.
We offer a fully inclusive teaching and learning experience. designed to develop Apprentices practically and personally, and help them meet their maximum potential and progress to the next level. Our Apprentices study in purpose-built digital design suites with access to advanced CNC machines. AutoCAD, Siemens NX, Automation and Labview Multisim are the industry-specific software Sandwell students use to learn to build, test and simulate. Learners explore theory in the college’s custom-built ELVIS engineering laboratory, giving them in-depth practical experience of analogue circuits, mechatronics, power electronics, instrumentation, digital communications, digital electronics, controls, and more.
Our Fab Lab is a rapid prototyping facility with laser and 3D printers – part of a global community of digital fabrication labs that conceptualise, design, develop, fabricate, and test almost anything. The concept began life at the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Fab Lab is here to support employers with 3D printing, designs, business support and advice, and our experienced team runs a series of industry workshops across the year, showcasing robotics to VR and AR. We have a reputation for building great industry links through our employer advisory board with IMI, Bosch, Halfords Autocentres and Valeo, so students can gain vital workshop experience.
